# Credits and monthly plans

> Understand credit validity, reservations and monthly subscription changes.

CarHub measures API usage in credits. **1,000 credits equal USD 1**. Your organisation shares one live balance; test jobs use a separate test balance.

| Plan | Monthly price | Included credits | Concurrent jobs |
| - | - | - | - |
| Trial | Free | 10,000 once per organisation | 2 |
| Starter | USD 499 | 200,000 per paid month | 4 |
| Scale | USD 1,999 | 800,000 per paid month | 16 |

Existing contracts keep their agreed prices, allowances and limits until you choose a different plan. Enterprise terms follow your signed agreement. Retrieve the current public catalogue with `GET /v1/plans`.

## Credit validity

Trial credits, purchased packs and automatic reloads do not expire. Monthly subscription credits expire at the exact end of their paid Stripe period, in UTC. Unused monthly credits do not roll over. A monthly period follows your billing calendar; it is not a fixed 30 days.

CarHub spends credits with the nearest expiration first, then permanent credits in the order granted. **Billing** shows available monthly credits, permanent credits, reservations, expiration dates and the ledger history.

## Job reservations

An admitted job reserves enough credits to cover its maximum charge. A reservation may draw from several grants. When the job settles, CarHub charges its actual usage and releases each unused fraction to its original grant.

A job admitted before a grant expires can finish using that reservation. If its unused fraction returns after expiration, that fraction expires immediately. A renewal never moves an existing reservation to the new month's credits.

## Change your subscription

Open **Billing** to subscribe or preview a change. An upgrade takes effect after payment confirmation. The preview shows the immediate prorated payment, the prorated additional credits and the unchanged expiration date. Additional credits are rounded down to whole credits.

A downgrade or cancellation takes effect at your next renewal. You can remove the scheduled change before it takes effect. Permanent credits remain available.

If a renewal payment fails, **Billing** displays its status and a link to complete payment. When the last paid period ends, paid limits end too. You can still use permanent credits under the free plan's limits.

## Payment confirmation and returns

Payment confirmation may take time. The dashboard polls for a bounded period and keeps a confirmation-in-progress message until the backend confirms payment. A browser return from Checkout does not itself grant credits.

A refund or dispute recovers the credits associated with that payment. Credits already expired are not deducted twice. Credits already consumed can create a permanent recovery debt, which reduces your usable balance.
